Honorary Lecturers span the globe Honorary Lecturer, Andrew Long (center), at Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Thanks to a US$1.25 Million commitment from Shell International E&P to the SEG Foundation, the SEG Honorary Lecturer (HL) program is now up and running simultaneously in six regions around the world: Europe, South & East Asia, Middle East & Africa, Pacific South, Central & South America, and North America. This remarkable Professional Development program serves practicing geophysicists and students around the world, while recognizing and honoring geophysical experts residing in the regions it tours. 2009 Honorary Lecturers are Samir Abdelmoaty, Per Avseth, José Carcione, Bill Goodway, Bob Hardage, Andrew Long, and C. H. Mehta. The HL program promotes the sharing of geophysical technology and expertise. It also energizes students, by introducing them to the breadth and challenges of a geophysical career, while strengthening SEG Student Chapters and related university programs.
