Geoscientists Without Borders® Euroscience – Greece: "Geophysical Prospecting on a Tumulus for the Detection of an Ancient Tomb of Great Historical Importance." |  | Partners: Euroscience – Greece University of Patras, Ionio University, Geomorph Instruments and Open University of Cyprus Summary: This project focuses on the use of geophysical methods for the benefit of archaeologists and archaeometers and will help the localization of the most important Macedonia grave. Underground corridors and cavernous openings will be mapped. In collaboration with the Greek Archaeological Authority, all findings will be donated to the local museum. This has multiple benefits: - Eliminate further vandalism of this historic site (illegal excavations, digs and land clearances)
- Provide an open global educational base
- Provide a real-world project for students of University of Patras and Ionio Universities as they acquire, process and interpret data
- Increase tourism and economic growth for this region
